180 To Protect and Preserve
Maleny Expects - Write a Letter

The Mayor, Mark Jamieson

Sunshine Coast Council

I write this letter in support of the project being undertaken by Maleny District Green Hills Fund to plant an unbroken wildlife corridor along the north bank of the Obi Obi Creek on the Precinct. The minimum width of this rainforest buffer zone should be 40 metres.

Sunshine Coast Council has an enviable record Australia-wide for its environmental works. The Maleny Community Precinct presents Council with an excellent opportunity to enhance this reputation.

In this regard it is vital that Council honour the integrity of the Green Hills project. The creation of a viable wildlife corridor along the entire length of the Obi Obi Creek will honour the expectations of the community and be a credit to the Council well into the future.

Yours truly,

Obi Obi Creek is a key ecological corridor running between Kondalilla National Park and the well vegetated Reesville escarpment, with connections to Mary Cairncross Reserve, the Maleny section of the Glasshouse National Park and into the well forested Mooloolah River catchment. The section of the Obi Obi which runs through the Precinct is a critical lynch-pin.

Please consider using your own words rather than our template, to fully express what this issue means for you, and what you would like to see happening with the Precinct public land.
